Love and betrayal at the Court of Scotland

If only one were to remain, it would undoubtedly be this one! Ariodante is the zenith of Handel’s operas: a powerful drama, intensely baroque passions, and inexhaustible melodic invention. Set in medieval Scotland, the plot is full of betrayed love, incandescent anger and overwhelming despair, and features sumptuous arias such as the famous ‘Scherza infida’.

Christophe Rousset returns to this work, of which he knows every bar, surrounded by a dazzling cast: Marie Lys, Margherita Maria Sala, Michèle Bréant and Ève-Maud Hubeaux, who will be taking on the role of Prince Ariodante for the first time.
