A lifetime’s work
With the Mass in B minor, completed at the end of his life, Bach seemingly sought to bring together the styles he had explored throughout his career, raising them to their highest level of expression. This monumental work is the final achievement of a man whose spiritual quest transcended both Lutheranism, in which he was raised, and Catholicism, for which this Latin mass appears to have been destined.
This will be the first Mass in B minor in Beaune in 30 years, and the first appearance of Vox Luminis, undoubtedly the most sought-after ensemble today for the interpretation of Bach’s music.
