Still far from his Ithaca, stranded in a place from which he cannot leave, Odysseus, the great hero of the Odyssey, has nothing left but memory and storytelling. Assisted by a bard and urged on by a chorus of travellers, Odysseus recounts his extraordinary journeys: and so Calypso, the Cyclops, the Sirens, Circe, Scylla and Charybdis take shape in his memory and come to life on stage, in a continuous and fascinating interplay between Homer’s words, music and dance.
