Music for Rogier van der Weyden’s Last Judgement
In 1443, Chancellor Nicolas Rolin commissioned the greatest painter of his time to create a Last Judgement, a sublime object of penitence for the sick of his Hôtel-Dieu. Just before the Beaune altarpiece is taken away for several years of extensive restoration, the young English singers of Fount & Origin imagine the music for it, between hell and paradise, between the sword and the lily.
